Some lucky young hockey players are having the opportunity to share the ice with their hockey hero at the Sidney Crosby Hockey Camp this week.
Pittsburgh Penguins captain and two-time Stanley Cup champion Sidney Crosby is fresh off his big win, and is hosting the camp in his hometown of Cole Harbour.
“How often does your kid have a chance to get to come out and play on the same ice as the best hockey player in the world? It's pretty phenomenal,” says parent Greer Grady.
The participants have come from as far away as the United States, England, even Norway to take part.
“He has many different skills and he did win the Stanley Cup this year,” says one young participant.
“He has great hands. Lots of different skills he's good at,” says another youngster.
While it’s a chance of a lifetime for the small group of kids, all of Crosby's fans get to join in the excitement when he brings the Stanley Cup home on Saturday.
“Those things, being able to share with people here, should be busy, but should be a lot of fun,” Crosby told CTV News on Thursday. “Hopefully people here are excited to see it.”
The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. and is expected to last roughly 45 minutes, rain or shine. It will start at the Saint John XXIII Church on 35 Colby Drive, then proceed north on Cumberland Drive, continuing across Cole Harbour Road onto Forest Hills Parkway.
It will then proceed north along the Parkway and end at Cole Harbour Place.
