There were some anxious moments in the Burnside Industrial Park in Dartmouth on Wednesday night.

A number of businesses were evacuated on Wright Avenue when a construction crew broke a natural gas line.

Emergency crews were dispatched, along with experts from the utility.

“Heritage gas is currently on scene rectifying the situation. It’s going to take anywhere from three to five hours for them to pinch off the gas line and replace the broken piece of pipe,” says Phil McNulty, Executive Officer with Halifax Fire.

Much of the area was cordoned off while crews worked on the problem.
