Police in Edmonton have issued a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of a suspect wanted in connection with the homicide of a Nova Scotia man earlier this year.
Edmonton police were called to the city’s west end between Stony Plain Road and Winterburn Road around 8:30 a.m. on April 10 after a man’s body was found in a field.
He was identified as 37-year-old Brad Macdonald, who grew up in Beaver Bank, N.S.
The medical examiner determined Macdonald’s cause of death to be blunt force trauma.
Police say 26-year-old Austin Mackenzie Southworth is wanted on charges of second-degree murder, possession of a dangerous weapon and robbery.
Investigators believe he may be in the Vancouver Island area and may be driving a 2004 blue Mazda MPV minivan with Alberta licence plate BPB 4769, with a broken driver’s side window.
Southworth is described as a Caucasian man with green eyes, short brown hair and light facial hair. He is roughly five-foot-seven inches tall with a slim build and weighs 140 pounds.
Southworth has several tattoos, including one on his left hand that reads “brothair,” as well as a full sleeve of tribal markings on his right arm. He also has star-shaped tattoos across the front of his neck.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
