Family in friends gathered on Friday in Port Hawkesbury, N.S. to say a final goodbye to nine-year-old Oaklee Bagley.
The boy died on April 6 from injuries sustained during a kitchen fire in his home on Easter weekend.
His mother Amanda Bagley was hospitalized with severe burns following the fire.
The little boy’s classmates served as pallbearers at the funeral held at St. Joseph Parish, in the Cape Breton town where he lived.
They escorted his casket out of a packed church through a drawn-sword salute by a Knights of Columbus delegation.
Mourners remembered Oaklee as a happy and energetic Grade 4 student who loved baseball and judo.
