An old military explosive device has been destroyed after being found on a property in eastern P.E.I.
Kings District RCMP say the device was stored in an outbuilding in Goose River for years, but the property owners just called it in over the weekend.
A unit from CFB Gagetown was called in to identify and dispose of the bomb safely. Ammunition technicians tell CTV News it was an aircraft practice bomb, a piece of training munition which copies the flight pattern of a normal bomb.
The technicians say it’s hard to tell how old the device was, saying it was showing some rust but the devices are still used for training purposes.
The RCMP is advising anyone who thinks they might have found an explosive device to not touch it and contact their local police department.
