Cole Harbour Place shut down Saturday night and will remain closed indefinitely due to safety concerns related to the snow and ice buildup on the roof.
Officials say that maintenance staff along with members of Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency helped to clear the drains on the roof of the facility on Saturday, but a significant amount of frozen snow and rain remains on top of the building.
Staff say the facility will remain closed until the remaining snow and ice can be safely removed. A structural assessment will be done on Sunday to determine when that work can be done.
The municipality says residents will be notified through a public service announcement when Cole Harbour Place will reopen.
