Police charge man with stunting in Halifax

Halifax Regional Police (HRP) charged a driver with stunting Monday morning, according to a news release.

At approximately 11 a.m. an officer observed a vehicle travelling at 107 km/h in 50 km/h zone on Joseph Howe Drive in Halifax.

Police issued a ticket to the driver, a 33-year-old man from Halifax, for stunting.

Under the Motor Vehicle Act, stunting charges are automatic when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. In Nova Scotia, the fine for stunting is $2,442.50, with six points added to the offending driver’s record.

Police suspended the driver’s licence for seven days and seized the vehicle. They issued a summary offence ticket to the driver for unsafe lane changes which carries a fine of $237.50 under the Motor Vehicle Act.
