Security has been increased at Dalhousie University’s medical building in Halifax after a former medical student was charged with uttering threats against two people.
Stephen Gregory Tynes, 30, was arrested in Truro, N.S. on Aug. 20 and appeared in court the next day.
Tynes faces two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and one count of engaging in threatening conduct directed to another person.
Tynes was released Wednesday on a number of conditions, including residing in Truro with his father, have no communication with the alleged victims, not to possess weapons, alcohol or drugs and not to be within 25 kilometres of the 5900 block of University Avenue in Halifax.
Police say the two alleged victims have connections to Dalhousie but they have not released details about the nature of the alleged threats.
Dalhousie says Tynes has been suspended from the university and banned from all its campuses.
Signs on the Sir Charles Tupper medical building indicate restricted access, more security and frequent ID checks.
Tynes was previously charged with killing a cat on July 12, 2014 in Truro. However, the charge was withdrawn.
