HALIFAX -- A dentistry student at Dalhousie University says he feels like his story was heard after he appeared at a disciplinary hearing over his involvement in a Facebook group where misogynistic comments were posted.
Ryan Millet, who says he helped expose the group's existence, briefly spoke with reporters as he stood beside his wife and his lawyer after a 4 1/2 hour meeting on Wednesday.
Millet said there would be legal submissions submitted by both sides before a decision is made by the committee.
"I did feel like there was a chance for me to share some of my perspective on the whole story and that was good," he said.
Bruce MacIntosh, Millet's lawyer, said he hoped the academic standards committee would make its decision next week.
"I have advised Ryan that until the decision of the committee is out it really isn't appropriate to talk about what happened in there," said MacIntosh.
MacIntosh has said Millet should have his clinical privileges reinstated and his academic record restored because of his role in bringing the Facebook group to light.
The university stripped Millet and 12 other male fourth-year students of clinical duties and put them in separate classes after some of the postings became public in December.
The postings included hateful references to female classmates and sexually violent content.
