The New Brunswick RCMP say the death of a soldier who collapsed during physical training is not considered suspicious.
The Canadian Armed Forces says the incident happened outside 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown and did not take place on Department of National Defence property.
Police confirm the man was taking part in physical training at Hazen Park in Oromocto when he collapsed around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The soldier was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
His identity has not been released, but police say he was a 33-year-old man from Oromocto.
The Canadian Armed Forces confirms he was a member of the 5th Canadian Division Support Group Signal Squadron.
“The Canadian Armed Forces offers sincere condolences to the family and is providing them assistance during this difficult time,” the Department of National Defence said in a statement Tuesday night.
The RCMP has concluded its investigation. The file is now in the hands of the coroner.
