A family of six has been displaced by fire in Eastern Passage, N.S.

Fire and emergency crews responded to the home on Hines Road shortly after 2 a.m. Monday.

The Red Cross says six people, including three children aged 5 to 13, were home at the time but they escaped without injury.

Their bungalow sustained extensive damage in the fire.

Disaster volunteers with the Canadian Red Cross have arranged emergency lodging and food for the family.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
