The fiancée of Canadian rock and roll singer Bobby Curtola has been killed in a three-vehicle collision on Nova Scotia’s Highway 103.
Police and emergency crews responded to the head-on collision in Maitland around 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Curtola confirmed to CTV News that his longtime partner, Karyn Rochford, was killed in the crash. She was 73.
Police say she had been driving one of the vehicles and died at the scene.
Another driver, a 68-year-old man from Chester, was taken to hospital in Bridgewater with non-life-threatening injuries.
No one else was injured.
The collision closed the highway for the rest of the day, with traffic being diverted onto Highway 3.
Curtola said Rochford was heading to the Halifax Stanfield International Airport at the time of the crash. She was on her way to meet him in Montreal, where he is performing.
The couple owns a home on Nova Scotia’s South Shore and was scheduled to be married in April, on Curtola’s birthday.
