A tour bus is destroyed after it caught fire in the north end of Halifax Monday evening.
When firefighters arrived at the scene on Almon Street, the Ambassatours bus was fully engulfed in flames and the fire had spread to some buildings nearby, including a self-storage unit and bus station.
Chuck Bezanson, division commander with Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency, says it could have been worse.
“They put out the fire very quickly and they managed the extension in the other two buildings very quickly, so right now the damage is very limited to the buildings, and I would say the bus is a total write-off,” says Bezanson.
The Ambassatours bus is estimated to be worth over $500,000.
There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the incident and no one was injured.
The fire is believed to have started in the front end of the bus, but there’s still no word on the exact cause.
The fire remains under investigation.
