HALIFAX -- Gov. Gen. David Johnston is headed to Nova Scotia later this week for two days of speeches and ceremonial functions.

Johnston, who is also Canada's commander-in-chief, will start his visit Wednesday at Canadian Forces Base Greenwood, where he will address Canadian Forces members.

Later in the day, he will attend the launch of the Community Foundation of Nova Scotia's Smart and Caring Community Fund in Lunenburg.

That event will be followed by a visit to an after-school program in Gold River and then a stop at Bonny Lea Farm, which helps disabled people in the Chester area.

On Thursday morning, Johnston will take part in a discussion on youth engagement at the St. Mary's Boat Club in Halifax.

Later in the afternoon, he will receive an honorary doctorate and deliver the convocation address at the University of King's College in Halifax.
