Halifax Regional Police have arrested 20-year-old Owen Gibson-Skeir, who is wanted for a number of offences, including trafficking a person under the age of 18.

The East Preston man was arrested around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday and remains in police custody.

Gibson-Skeir is facing a slew of charges, including procuring a person under the age of 18, trafficking a person under the age of 18, assault, sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching and sexual interference.

He is also charged with uttering threats, advertising sexual services, material benefit from trafficking a person under the age of 18, material benefit from sexual services and breach of probation.

Police say an investigation was launched earlier this year in relation to a 14-year-old girl being sexually exploited. Police say it’s alleged that an adult male was trafficking the girl in Dartmouth and Halifax between Jan. 10 and March 9, 2016.

Gibson-Skeir will face a judge in Halifax provincial court on Monday.
