Halifax Regional Police are looking for a suspect in connection with an attempted armed robbery of a cab driver.
Police responded to the 40 block of Frederick Avenue in Halifax shortly after 1:30 a.m. Monday.
Investigators say the driver picked up a fare on Titus Street in Halifax and that the passenger produced a small handgun and demanded money from the driver.
The driver resisted the robbery and the suspect fled the area on foot toward Dutch Village Road. The driver was not injured and the suspect did not obtain any money.
Police say officers searched the area with the assistance of a K9 unit but they were unable to locate the suspect.
He is described as a white male in his 20s with black curly hair and a beard. He is five-foot-seven inches tall and has a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket, jeans and was carrying a backpack at the time of the incident.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police.
