Canada is shining bright going into this year's Emmy Awards.
Tatiana Maslany, Samantha Bee, Michael J. Fox, Molly Parker and Ellen Page are among the many Canucks who earned nominations on Thursday.
Maslany got her second career best-actress Emmy nod for "Orphan Black," in which she plays multiple clones who all have varying personalities and accents.
"Black-ish" star Anthony Anderson, who helped announce the nominations, needed to check his notes with Maslany's name spelled out phonetically before reading it out.
"I went to public school in Compton, but I got this," he joked before enthusiastically revealing the Regina native's nomination.
The 30-year-old Maslany was also nominated for an Emmy for the same show last year and a Golden Globe in 2014. The sci-fi thriller airs on Space and BBC America.
Meanwhile, Toronto-native Bee earned her first career Emmy nomination, for writing on her variety series "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee," which airs on TBS and the Comedy Network.
The 46-year-old was a correspondent on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart." She and her husband, actor Jason Jones, are also co-creators of the comedy series "The Detour."
Both Fox and Parker are up for trophies for guest parts.
Fox, who's already won several Emmys, is nominated for playing conniving lawyer Louis Canning on "The Good Wife," which recently aired its series finale on Global and CBS. It's a part that's earned the 55-year-old Edmonton native several Emmy nominations.
Parker is nominated for playing deputy house minority whip Jacqueline Sharp in Netflix's "House of Cards." This is the first Emmy nod for 44-year-old Parker, who hails from Maple Ridge, B.C.
Oscar-nominated Page is also up for her first Emmy, as executive producer on Viceland's "Gaycation With Ellen Page," which is nominated for best unstructured reality program.
Perennial Emmy favourite Lorne Michaels of Toronto is nominated once again, for writing on "Saturday Night Live."
Thunder Bay, Ont., native Paul Shaffer of "Late Show with David Letterman" fame is a nominee for music direction on the Netflix special "A Very Murray Christmas."
Other homegrown talent up for Emmys this year include:
- Elisabeth Williams of Montreal, for production design on "Fargo"
- Shirley Inget, also for production design on "Fargo"
- Shane Smith in the outstanding informational series or special category for the HBO series "Vice"
