SAINT JOHN, N.B. -- New Brunswick's chief coroner has postponed an inquest into the death of a psychiatric patient more than two years ago at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Serena Perry of Hampton was found dead on Feb. 14, 2012, and a month later police arrested a suspect in connection with her death.

However, last May police announced that after consulting with the Crown it was decided that no charges would be laid.

They said a forensic pathology exam could not confirm the cause of the 22-year-old's death.

Chief Coroner Gregory Forestell says the inquest scheduled to begin March 17 has been postponed because of an ongoing court case, which is scheduled to resume Monday.

He says the legal challenge at the Court of Queen's Bench is related to procedures to be followed at coroner's inquests
