The RCMP are investigating after an inmate was assaulted at a prison in Renous, N.B.
The Atlantic Institution issued a statement Friday, saying an inmate had been found injured around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
A spokesperson for the prison says the inmate was evaluated by staff and transported to a hospital outside the facility for treatment.
No staff members or other inmates were injured and there is no word on possible charges at this time.
The Blackville RCMP detachment and Correctional Service of Canada are investigating the incident.
