A 61-year-old man from Little Tancook Island, N.S. has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of his daughter’s boyfriend.
Terry Roy Levy shot and killed 47-year-old Terry Green last July. Green’s body was found in a field on the island on July 8, 2014.
Levy was arrested a short time later and charged with first-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Lobster fisherman James Levy, who is also Levy’s first cousin, previously told CTV News that he heard three gunshots that morning.
“It’s just completely terrible, just like somebody kicked you in the guts as hard as they possibly could,” said James Levy in July 2014.
“There’s two families ruined. Two families are going to suffer for the rest of their lives over this.”
At the time of the incident, Levy’s neighbours told CTV News that he was known to be eccentric, but was well liked in the community.
But the court heard that Levy and Green didn’t get along and had an ongoing feud for years.
Levy was found guilty of second-degree murder in Bridgewater court Tuesday.
The jury recommended that he serve a minimum of 10 years behind bars before being eligible for parole.
Levy is due back in court for sentencing on May 22.
