Nova Scotia RCMP say a young man is lucky to be alive after falling into the ocean at Peggys Cove Thursday afternoon.
A 911 call brought Halifax District RCMP, Halifax firefighters and paramedics to the iconic tourist attraction just after 4:30 p.m., police say.
RCMP say a 26-year-old Ontario man was standing on the rocks when he slipped and fell into the water.
Police credit the quick action of the captain of local tour boat “The Sea Dog IV” with saving the man’s life.
Police say the captain was alerted of the man’s fall and immediately launched his boat, finding him about 10 minutes later.
The Ontario man was floating on his back 30-40 feet from shore when he was located by the captain, police say.
They say the man was extremely cold and taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.
As they continue their investigation, police are reminding the public to be cautious near the province’s shorelines.
