HALIFAX -- A globe-trotting shark with more than 28,000 Twitter followers has surfaced off the coast of Nova Scotia.
According to OCEARCH's shark tracker, Lydia the great white shark has been headed northeast in the Atlantic Ocean for the past week.
Lydia's dorsal fin tracker "pinged" a satellite Friday suggesting she was swimming near Maritime waters.
The oceanic predator regularly posts to social media about her travels, announcing her updated location on Twitter with a flurry of emoji.
Lydia's Twitter profile claims she is the first great white shark ever recorded to cross the Atlantic Ocean, and almost as an afterthought, says "Oh, Canada eh."
Researchers say the approximately 900-kilogram shark has travelled more than 57,200 kilometres since being tagged by researchers in Jacksonville, Fla., in 2013.
