A 49-year-old Dartmouth man is facing several charges after an alleged dispute at a Dartmouth shopping plaza.
Police say two passersby noticed the man and a woman were having a heated argument near the Dartmouth Shopping Centre around 10 p.m. and they stopped to intervene.
Police say the suspect, who was carrying a knife, punched one of the witnesses, a 32-year-old man, when they tried to intervene on the woman’s behalf.
He was not injured.
The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
Police arrested the man a short time later on Albro Lake Road.
The accused is due to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on Tuesday to face charges of assault, assault with a weapon, breach of court orders and theft.
