DOAKTOWN, N.B. -- The RCMP say two patients who went missing from a mental health facility in Ontario nearly two weeks ago were seen in New Brunswick on the weekend.

Cara Duval, who also goes by Cara Donnelly, and Joseph Pepin did not return to the North Bay Regional Health Centre's Mental Health and Law program after they were permitted off-unit privileges on Jan. 22.

The pair, who police say could be dangerous, were spotted in the central New Brunswick village of Doaktown over the weekend.

Police say Duval and Pepin attempted to rent an apartment Sunday but the owner contacted police.

The Mounties say the two fled the scene by the time officers arrived and were last seen driving in an older model grey vehicle with a New Brunswick licence plate headed north on Highway 8.

Duval is 37, five-foot-one, weighs 117 pounds, has brown eyes and brown shoulder-length hair usually kept in a ponytail.

Pepin, 39, is six-feet, 174 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
