N.S. couple wins $500K from Atlantic Lottery ticket

An Elderbank, N.S., couple plans to buy a new electric car and a four-wheeler after winning $500,000 from Atlantic Lottery.

Francisco and Daniele Hernandez recently bought their first Daily Grand ticket and found out they won the second prize of half-a-million dollars on June 17.

They bought the ticket at a Petro Canada in Fall River.

“It started with complete awe and thinking this couldn’t be real life,” Daniele Hernandez said. “Then, we started thinking about all the ways this will help us in our everyday lives and set up our future retirement and we’re just so thankful.”

The Daily Grand is a national draw game that offers $25,000 a year for life or a lump sum payment of $500,000 to second prize winners.

The couple hope to buy a new Tesla Model 3 electric car and a four-wheeler for their children. They have also set up an education fund for their kids.

“Things are now possible, not that we weren’t working hard to make things possible, but this is a big burden off our shoulders to provide a comfortable life for the future, for our children and for us,” Francisco Hernandez said.
