An 18-year-old man from Moncton has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a homicide investigation in the area.
Sgt. André Pepin of Codiac Regional RCMP says Devin Morningstar was arrested in Moncton Sunday afternoon and faced murder and arson charges in Moncton Provincial Court on Monday.
Morningstar was remanded in custody and will appear in court on Jan. 8.
Police are still searching for 20-year-old Marissa Shephard and 18-year-old Tyler Noel from the Moncton area, who are considered persons of interest in the case.
Shephard is described as a five-foot-five, 100 pound white woman with brown eyes and brown hair. She has a tattoo with the name Stephen on her neck and a tattoo of a heart on her chest.
Noel is described as a five-foot-six, 140 pound white man with a brown eyes, black hair, with facial hair and sideburns. He has tattoos on his right forearm with the words mom, dad and Mary, as well as a skull.
"The investigation has led us to want to talk to these two persons of interest about the victim and what they may know about the circumstances surrounding his death," said Pepin.
The body of 18-year-old Baylee Wylie was found dead in a home on Sumac Street in Moncton on Friday after an early morning fire.
