The Nova Scotia Justice Department has added the murder of a man in downtown Halifax last August to its Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program.

Police were called to a disturbance in the area of Argyle and Sackville streets on Aug. 11, 2012.

When they arrived on scene they found 26-year-old Kaylin Diggs lying unresponsive in a crosswalk.

Diggs was taken to hospital where he died a short time later from injuries suffered in an assault.

Police allege Diggs had left a downtown bar and was walking along Argyle Street when he stopped to help a friend who was being assaulted by a group of men.

They say Diggs was assaulted and knocked to the ground in the altercation.

Police have yet to make an arrest in the case and are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

The province is offering a reward of up to $150,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Anyone with information should call the Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program at 1-888-710-9090.

The program was launched in October 2006 as an additional tool to help police gather information on unsolved crimes. There are now 72 cases in the program.
