MUSQUASH, N.B. -- A group of firefighters rescued a New Brunswick teenager after what they believe was a tobogganing accident.

The Musquash Fire Department says it received an emergency medical assist call from a remote location while crews were doing an ice rescue training exercise just before 1:30 p.m. today.

They responded with four rescue vehicles to the end of Stillwater Road, before continuing with a side-by-side and a trailer over the ice on the East Branch Reservoir to the site of the incident.

There, they found a female teenager with what they call a "lower body injury."

She was transported in the trailer back to the rescue vehicles on Stillwater Road before being handed over to awaiting paramedics.

The fire department says she was conscious and alert, and was taken to hospital for further care.
