POINT LEPREAU, N.B. -- New Brunswick's Point Lepreau nuclear plant is operating a reduced power after testing confirmed repairs are needed to reheater components.
The generating station will operate at between 75 and 85 per cent capacity until repairs to the components on the non-nuclear side of the plant are completed.
The problem was found after the plant went offline on May 28 for testing and analysis of the turbine system in its non-nuclear section.
Point Lepreau is a 660 megawatt nuclear generating station that produces enough electricity to power more than 333,000 homes per year.
