The wait is over, but it didn't turn out the way many Maritimers had hoped.

A list of concerts for Bruce Springsteen's summer tour appeared on his official web page Tuesday, but none for Atlantic Canada.

A few weeks ago a local concert news and rumours website launched a campaign to bring Springsteen to the Maritimes.

Regardless of Springsteen's plans, the city of Moncton remains coy, saying Magnetic Hill and other venues will continue to attract big names.

"Going forward we are open for business," says Moncton communications director Paul Thomson. "We think we have a fantastic site for concerts. We have proven that. So we are looking forward to ongoing conversations with the promoters about prospective concerts for the summer here and Moncton is open for business."

CTV News spoke with a number of Moncton residents today who were disappointed with the news, but remain optimistic, noting that the city has hosted some big names in the past and there is no reason to think that won't continue.

"I am sure there are a lot of disappointed fans here in the Maritimes, but we are doing OK for concerts," says music fan Erin Leger.

"I think he should come because there has been U2 and the Rolling Stones and I don't know why he couldn't come because he is good. I am a fan," says Monica Savoie.

For his fans, there might be a ray of hope, as the concert dates released today only go as far as July 31, leaving an August date a possibility.
