The emergency room at Cape Breton’s Northside General Hospital is closed until further notice because the department is at patient capacity.
The Cape Breton District Health Authority says patient capacity occurs when a unit or department reaches the maximum number of patients it can safely treat.
Spokesman Greg Boone says the health authority is working to resolve the issue as quickly as it can.
He says residents in the North Sydney area need of emergency service should call 911 or go to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney.
