Halifax Regional Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a patient reported missing from the East Coast Forensic Hospital in Dartmouth.

According to a press release from the Capital District Health Authority, 21-year-old Maxim Baril-Blouin was out in the community with staff from the hospital when he slipped away without permission.

The health authority says his risk to himself and others will increase with time away from care.

Baril-Blouin also has a physical heart condition that increases his risk to himself the longer he is away from medication and treatment.

Hospital staff are assisting police in their investigation as they search for the missing patient.

Police have reason to believe Baril-Blouin may be travelling outside Nova Scotia as he lived in Whitehorse at one time and still has contacts there.

Baril-Blouin has green eyes and short blond-brown hair. He is roughly five-foot-six and weighs 145 pounds. He has scars on his chest and back and a tattooed cross on his upper left arm.

He was last seen wearing a green fleece sweater, grey jacket and pants, grey high-top sneakers and a black baseball hat with “DC” stitched in royal blue.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact their local police department.
