A meeting was held in New Glasgow, N.S. Wednesday evening to discuss the pollution coming from the Northern Pulp mill.
About 115 people attended a discussion hosted by the Nova Scotia Woodlot Owners Association.
The group asked residents about their concerns and what they want in the future.
"People are seeming to be much more aware of the effect this pulp mill is having on the central part, the eastern part of Nova Scotia,” says Woodlot Owners Association member, Wade Prest.
Matt Gunning from the Clean Pictou Air group says meeting like these are critical.
"We want to meet with as many different people as we can, get some conversations happening and find out what we can do to make a thriving Pictou County," says Gunning,
Nova Scotia’s environment minister issued an order to Northern Pulp last week to clean up emissions by the end of May 2015, or face a government ordered shut down.
