Cape Breton Regional Police say, so far, human remains have not been found at the site of a vacant building destroyed by fire in Glace Bay.

Police and fire crews responded to Billy D’s on Main Street around 11 p.m. Friday.

Investigators received information that a homeless person may have been inside the former bar at the time, but police say they have not found any evidence of that.

Investigators say they will spend Monday searching the basement of the building.

Several streets were blocked off Friday evening and early Saturday morning and Nova Scotia Power cut power, which affected some customers in the area.

A nearby Irving gas station turned off its pumps and the business was shut down for safety reasons at the time of the fire.

The cause remains under investigation.
