Halifax Regional Police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down a driver who allegedly struck a 17-year-old girl in Bedford Monday evening.

Police responded to the collision at the intersection of the Bedford Highway and Dartmouth Road at 5 p.m.

They say the teen was crossing the Bedford Highway in a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a vehicle turning left from Dartmouth Road onto the Bedford Highway, heading toward Halifax.

The vehicle stopped in the parking lot of the Chickenburger restaurant and the driver spoke to the teen but police say he left the scene before officers arrived.

The teen was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s with blond hair. He was driving a white pickup truck at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
