RCMP have released a photo of a woman whose body was found just north of Fredericton this week, in the hopes it will lead to more tips in the case.
Police say 26-year-old Alicia Dawn Boone was about seven months pregnant.
Her body was found in a ditch along Killarney Road just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
“We do know that her family spoke to her on Monday and her body was discovered on Tuesday,” says RCMP Cpl. Chantal Farrah.
“So we’re asking anyone who may have seen her in the days before her death to come forward with any of that information.”
Police say Boone was originally from the Nackawic area, but had recently moved to Fredericton.
Investigators say the circumstances surrounding her death remain a mystery at this time.
“The investigation is looking at all avenues,” says Farrah.
“At this time, we’re looking at this investigation very openly. We need to determine exactly all the circumstances surrounding her death. Nothing has been ruled out.”
As part of their investigation, police examined security camera recordings at a convenience store located a short distance from where Boone’s body was found.
People living in the area say the fact police haven’t determine how she died is concerning.
“They’re really concerned that something bad happened to her, that someone hurt her or killed her,” says area resident Roxanne Mesman.
“I know a lot of people who walk out here, so the other concern would be that she was hit and that they left.”
An autopsy was conducted Wednesday in Saint John but the results haven’t been made public.
Police are asking anyone with information about the case to contact them.
