With all the snow, you might not notice anything unusual – except for the temporary railings.

A recent storm surge has shifted some of the ground on the landside of the Halifax waterfront boardwalk, forcing waterfront development to put up the railings.

A restaurant employee is not surprised, considering the flooding along here last Saturday.

"They had to move everybody up a floor on Saturday night. And that's from rain, not even from a storm surge. It's a symptom of a larger problem,” says Dave Campbell.

Another business owner says he is not worried about the situation, and that once the snow clears, waterfront development will fix it.

Some Haligonian’s think robust construction is the answer, while others are skeptical of any quick fixes.

None of this seems to be keeping people away from the boardwalk.

Many are simply happy about a pause in the weather pattern that seemed to bring a storm every 48 hours.
