Cape Breton ground search and rescue, along with police have entered their third day of searching for 50-year-old Kenneth Douglas MacNeil.

“We are concerned for MacNeil's whereabouts,” says Cst. Rolland Morrison. “This is unusual for him to go missing for this long period of time. He was last seen by his family. We can never rule out foul play, but right now it's not deemed suspicious. We’re considering it a missing person at the present time.”

MacNeil lives in Leitches Creek in a trailer surrounded by a large wooded area. That’s where search crews are focusing their efforts.

“It will expand over a period of time, but right now we want to saturate this area and make sure he's not here. Then we'll expand it,” says Dave Hooper from search and rescue.

MacNeil is described as 5’5”, 120 pounds with greyish black hair. He was last seen wearing green flowered shorts and a grey t-shirt.

Searchers have faced a few obstacles. The long weekend means there are fewer volunteers to help search and the terrain has been rugged.

With the rescue mission now surpassing 72-hours, police are worried about MacNeil's health.

Crews will continue their search on Sunday.
