Three people were arrested as dozens of protestors took to the streets of downtown Halifax Saturday.

Demonstrators marched down Barrington Street protesting Bill C-51.

The Harper government’s anti-terror bill became law on Thursday, giving expanded powers to police and CSIS, Canada’s Spy Agency.

The government says the new law will protect Canadians.

Protestors say it will give authorities sweeping powers to snoop around in the lives of law abiding citizens.

Traffic was an issue as demonstrators marched up the downtown street.

Two women were arrested for blocking traffic, but were later released without any charges being laid.

Police say a 26-year-old man was also arrested for causing a disturbance.

He has been released, but is scheduled to appear in court July 30.
