TRURO, N.S. - Unionized workers at the Truro, N.S., agricultural campus of Dalhousie University have voted to strike to back their contract demands.

The Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union says 81 per cent of the workers from Local 92 who voted are in favour of strike action.

The union and the school are negotiating the merger of the Truro local's 174 members into two existing locals at the university.

The negotiations were part of the merger of Dalhousie and the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 2012.

Outstanding issues in the contract dispute include wages, job security and displacement rights along with job classification and an appeal process.

The last collective agreement expired in March, 2012 for workers employed in clerical, professional, maintenance, technical and research.
