DIEPPE, N.B. - It is the end of an era for the people of Moncton. Crystal Palace Amusement Park is closing its doors for good Monday and with only four days left, the young and young at heart are stopping by for some fun.

“I remember going on the exact same bumper cars that are literally still here,” says amusement park goer Greg Lawson.

“Definitely thought it would always be here,” says Jared MacPhee. “I was probably going to keep coming, I brought my two-year-old son here now.”

Crystal Palace opened its doors in 1990. Twenty four years later, it will be replaced by outdoor retail giant, Bass Pro Shops.

To say thanks to their customers, Crystal Palace is dropping admission prices. As well, some of the revenue generated this weekend will be donated to the pediatric sections of the George Dumont Hospital and Moncton Hospital.

The Maritime Fun Group has purchased all of the rides from Crystal Palace. They own and operate three amusement parks on Prince Edward Island and two more in Moncton, including Magic Mountain.

“We’ll be sure to let everyone know when we finalize plans, but at this point in time, we’re working on finalizing them. At this point in time, we’re working on getting the equipment out of there and getting it stored and secured properly.

The restaurant and hotel attached to Crystal Palace will stay open until the end of October.
