A Halifax man accused of abusing his six-week-old infant has been released from jail.

A bail hearing was held today for 37-year-old Philip Jason Bowden, who has been charged with aggravated assault and failing to provide the necessities of life.

Police responded to the IWK Health Centre around 6 p.m. Monday after the child was brought in with life-threatening injuries, although the nature of the injuries have not been released.

Bowden is due back in court on Sept. 17 to enter a plea.
