A large Christmas tree made up of lobster traps, crafted by a community group in Musquodoboit, N.S., is getting the attention of many Maritimers across the region.

The local Lions Club collaborated with fishermen in the area to build the tree in front of the Musquodoboit Harbour Railway Museum.

Fishermen brought donated traps and colourful buoys for decorating to the village landmark at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Volunteers from the community rallied together to build the massive tree, with lights scaling the inside and outside. The tree even has a lighthouse for the star on top.

The tree lights will be turned on for the annual Parade of Lights at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m., and donations will be collected for the local Food Bank.
