A 33-year-old man is hospital with life-threatening injuries following a serious collision in Nova Scotia’s Pictou County.

The RCMP responded to the crash on Gairloch Road in Union Centre just before 12 a.m.

Police say the driver, and lone occupant of the vehicle, was thrown from the vehicle and landed a short distance away on the side of the road.

The Iron Rock man was airlifted to a Halifax hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed while police investigated and cleared the scene. It has since reopened to traffic.

The incident remains under investigation.
