A man had died after falling overboard from a fishing boat off the coast of Nova Scotia.
Shortly after 8 a.m. Monday, the RCMP and the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre responded to a call that a man was in the water off the shores of Port Mouton.
Police say the man fell overboard from a fishing boat. The boat’s crew managed to get the man out of the water and took him to a wharf in Central Port Mouton.
The man was airlifted by a military helicopter to Shearwater and then taken to a Halifax hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
Stephen Darin Hanson, a 42-year-old Queens County man, died in hospital Monday evening.
The incident remains under investigation but police don’t suspect foul play.
