A suspicious package that shut down a section of a busy Halifax street Monday morning turned out to be a forgotten backpack.
The black backpack was found in the 1600 block of Barrington Street around 9:30 a.m.
Police cordoned off the area to investigate, forcing pedestrians and drivers to use a different route.
However, the owner of the backpack approached police a short time later and explained that he had forgotten his backpack, which contained his lunch, at the location.
Once the backpack was deemed safe, it was returned to the owner.
No charges are expected.
