Police in New Brunswick say they are investigating after a transport truck’s load caught fire while it was travelling down the highway on Wednesday afternoon.

RCMP say the truck was on Highway 7 near Geary, N.B., when its load of woodchips caught fire around 2 p.m.

Members of the Oromocto RCMP detachment, the Oromocto Fire Department and commercial vehicle enforcement officers responded to the scene.

Police say the highway was closed to traffic while the fire was extinguished and then reopened to one lane for several hours.
