HALIFAX - Residents of Uniacke Square in Halifax came together to show their passion for their community on Saturday.

It was the ninth annual community beautification day in the neighbourhood.

Participants cleaned up trash, planted flowers and also enjoyed food, music and other activities like face-painting.

“We all live in this community. We’re all the same…We might have different circumstances but we’re all the same. We take pride in our community,” said organizer Chriselle Ellison.

Ellison says neighbours also pitched in to clean up the yards of those who were unable to leave their homes.
