Ensure your wireless connection is on. Hit settings, Wi-Fi, and choose your home’s connection. If you have never connected to the Wi-Fi before, you may need to enter a password. You can find the password on the Wi-Fi box from your provider.
Go to the APP STORE or PLAY STORE to download the application you need to video call.
Decide which app works best for you: Facebook Messenger – add person you’d like to reach as a “friend”, Skype – use email or phone number to contact, Facetime – use email or phone number to contact, both people communicating must have iPad or iPhone
Search for application in top search bar, use the keyboard that appears to type in the app you would like to download, press enter and select.
Press ‘install’ and wait. All of these apps are free to use. When the app has installed, click ‘open.’
The application will open and ask you to create an account – it may ask for your email address or phone number, and to create a password. Make sure to jot your username and password down on paper so you won’t forget it.
If on Skype or Facetime, click New Call (+) and type in the number or email address you would like to connect with. Once you hit enter, the call will begin. To end a call, hit the big red button on the bottom middle of the screen.
If on Facebook Messenger, type in the person’s name that you would like to connect with in the top search bar. At the top right corner, hit the button that looks like a camera. Once you’ve hit this button, the call will begin. To end a call, hit the big red button on the bottom middle of the screen.
You only have to follow all of these installation steps one time. Once you have downloaded the app to your device and signed in it will be there ready to use for the next time. If you hear a strange ringing that you don’t recognize, it could be someone online trying to video call you, don’t be afraid to answer. It is not possible for someone to connect with you unless you have provided them with your information.
