HALIFAX -- Sales were down slightly at Nova Scotia liquor stores in the last fiscal year.
The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation says sales fell by $1.9 million for the fiscal year that ended March 31 as it brought in a total of $591 million.
The corporation's net income was $228 million in 2014-15, down $300,000 from the previous year.
But CEO Bret Mitchell says the corporation exceeded its profit expectations and once a licensee discount program and the sale of properties are accounted for, its net income was up by $1.96 million.
The total volume of alcohol sold dipped by 0.8 per cent, which follows a 2.8 per cent decline in 2013-14.
But Nova Scotia wine sales rose 12 per cent to $11.6 million, cider sales jumped by about 55 per cent to $1.2 million, and craft beer rose by about 25 per cent to $5.1 million.
